The Moxa MGate 5105-MB-EIP is a 1-port Modbus RTU/ASCII/TCP to EtherNet/IP gateway with native MQTT IIoT connectivity to Azure and Alibaba Cloud, 2 kV serial isolation, microSD data buffering, and dual DC power. 12–48 VDC, 0 to 60°C.
The Moxa MGate 5105-MB-EIP is an industrial Ethernet gateway for Modbus RTU/ASCII/TCP and EtherNet/IP protocol conversion with integrated IIoT capabilities via MQTT. Beyond standard Modbus-to-EtherNet/IP bridging, the gateway connects fieldbus data directly to cloud platforms — including Microsoft Azure IoT Hub and Alibaba Cloud — without requiring additional middleware. The microSD card doubles as a data buffer, preserving records when cloud connectivity is interrupted.
The MGate 5105-MB-EIP implements MQTT v3.1.1 with QoS levels 0, 1, and 2. Supported features include Keep Alive, Retain Message, Last Will Message, and Clean Session. TLS encryption (1.0, 1.1, 1.2) with user root CA, client certificate, and private key provides secure transmission. Up to 300 data tags and 20 messages can be configured. The microSD slot supports up to 2 GB of data buffering to protect against cloud connection loss.
Two 10/100BaseT(X) RJ45 ports with 1.5 kV magnetic isolation provide built-in Ethernet cascading. The RS-232/422/485 serial port supports 50 bps to 921.6 kbps via DB9 male connector with ADDC for RS-485. Configuration options include Web Console (HTTP/HTTPS), MGate Manager, DSU, Telnet, and Serial Console. Security includes HTTPS (TLS 1.3), AES-128/256, SHA-256, SNMPv3, and SSH.
Powered by redundant dual 12 to 48 VDC inputs via screw-fastened Euroblock terminal, drawing 455 mA @ 12 VDC. Standard operating temperature is 0 to 60°C; the MGate 5105-MB-EIP-T wide-temperature variant extends this to -40 to 75°C. Ambient humidity tolerance is 5 to 95% non-condensing. The metal IP30 housing is DIN-rail mountable.
