The new 4×4 MIMO Uni-Directional Antenna (XPOL-24)

First published by poynting.tech - June 27, 2022

Poynting introduces their all new XPOL-24 antenna and forms part of the new Lion Series. The XPOL-24 is an expansion of our very popular XPOL-2-5G antenna range. The antenna features 4×4 MIMO for 5G routers and futureproof implementation. The antenna applies our advanced meta-material technology, making use of Artificial Magnetic Conductors (AMC) to achieve exceptional bandwidth and gain.

XPOL-24 antenna covers the up-and-coming 5G bands, including the lower 617 to 960MHz and the upper 3400 to 4200MHz bands. The antenna performs exceptionally well in the following frequency bands: 617 to 960MHz, 1710 to 2700MHz & 3400 to 4200MHz. The antenna can achieve a peak gain of 11dBi across the wide band of operation, due to the implementation of the advanced meta-material technology.

The XPOL-24 antenna also features 4×4 MIMO capability, adding to the exceptional performance of the antenna. The antenna elements are cross-polarised with vertical, horizontal and ±45° polarisations with spatial diversity for improved diversity and decorrelation.

The frequency bands supported by the antenna are illustrated in the following graph:

Radiation patterns of the XPOL-24 antenna are uni-directional and exceptionally well controlled across the entire frequency range of operation. The combination of the uni-directional radiation pattern with the high gain across the wideband coverage enables superb coverage in rural and urban deployments.

Poynting Antennas has achieved this high-performance result by using an innovative design, whereby the impedance bandwidth, gain and radiation patterns are matched over all the bands of operation. The result is an antenna with superior performance across all frequency bands supported by the antenna. This is an important factor for a stable connection on LTE and 5G cellular technologies, where they rely on capacity enhancing features such as carrier aggregation to provide the best possible reception over multiple frequency bands.

Features:

  • XPOL-24 comes in an all-new radome, with an overall size of 444 mm x 290 mm x 110 mm.
  • The radome offers a rugged design with an IP65 ingress protection rating, making the antenna weatherproof and waterproof.
  • Antenna is suitable for outdoor mounting and ensures that the antenna will be able to withstand harsh environmental conditions.
  • The UV stable ASA radome material used for the antenna enclosure offers protection against highly corrosive environments, which include chemical and toxic environments.
  • The XPOL-24 comes standard with a unique and versatile mounting bracket, knock-in screws that can be used for a variety of mounting options; and can be wall or pole mounted as an outdoor for ease of installation.
  • Antenna complies with the relevant CE, EN, CSA and RoHS standards as stated in technical sheets.
  • Temperature ratings for the antenna is  rated from -40°C to +80°C and will survive winds of up to 160 km/h, with an impact resistance of IK08.
  • POYNTING is well known for developing futureproof antennas and the all new XPOL-24 antenna is no different.

Poynting plans to release the new antenna at the end of June/beginning of July 2022, with all the related specifications and information available at the launch.

Keep an eye out for the launch of the new XPOL-24 antenna and experience the connected life.
