The NPort S9000 is the world’s first device server that supports IEC 61850 MMS for Power SCADA systems to monitor all networks and devices in substations.
Real-time monitoring is challenging but crucial for mission-critical applications, such as public utilities and oil and gas, and especially for those using legacy equipment at their field sites. Moxa’s NPort S9000 device servers provide the answer to this challenge with integrated IEC 61850 MMS and serial-to-Ethernet communication to facilitate vertical integration between field legacy equipment and SCADA systems.
The NPort S9000 Series is the world’s first serial device server that can migrate serial Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) to an IEC 61850-based infrastructure for legacy substation retrofits.
First, the NPort S9000 device servers connect Modbus and DNP3-based IEDs to an Ethernet network with up to 16 serial ports. At the same time, the NPort S9000 uses IEC 61850 MMS protocol to monitor the serial IEDs’ status and report to both the field controllers and power SCADA systems.
Due to the extensive protocol interoperability range of the NPort S9000, the IEC 61850-based SCADA system can supervise the substation’s entire network, consisting of IEC 61850 compliant devices and legacy IEDs, for real-time monitoring and easy maintenance.
The NPort S9000 is the world’s first device server that supports IEC 61850 MMS for Power SCADA systems to monitor all networks and devices in substations.
The NPort S9000 incorporates security capabilities based on IEC 62443 standards to secure network security from any single access to NPort S9000 device servers.
Diverse industry certifications include IEC 61850-3, IEEE 1613, and Class I Division 2 standards to withstand harsh EMIs, explosion hazards, and other environmental challenges.
A regional substation wanted to enhance the monitoring of their existing legacy infrastructure to prevent outage. Moxa’s NPort S9650I serial device servers support IEC 61850 MMS to implement the IEC 61850 substation retrofit.
