Rajant FE1-5050 Hawk BreadCrumb®

The Rajant FE1-5050 Hawk BreadCrumb® is a high-performance dual-transceiver wireless mesh networking device purpose-built for industrial-grade mobility, data throughput, and robust security. Designed to extend and strengthen Rajant’s Kinetic Mesh® networks, the Hawk enables real-time communication and uninterrupted data flow across fast-moving and remote environments—including mining operations, military deployments, smart cities, construction sites, and critical infrastructure networks.

Equipped with two 5 GHz radios using 2×2 MIMO technology, the FE1-5050 Hawk achieves a combined data rate of up to 1.7 Gbps, allowing for the seamless transmission of voice, video, and telemetry data in bandwidth-heavy scenarios. Supporting 256-QAM modulation and 80 MHz channels, the Hawk offers significant performance improvements over previous BreadCrumb generations.

Central to the Hawk’s capabilities is Rajant’s patented InstaMesh® software, a real-time Layer 2 protocol that continuously adapts to changing network topologies. Whether assets are in motion or facing environmental disruption, InstaMesh enables self-forming and self-healing wireless infrastructure—ensuring data always takes the most efficient path without relying on fixed controllers or root nodes.

The Hawk is interoperable with all Rajant BreadCrumb models, allowing it to scale alongside evolving connectivity needs and integrate with LTE/5G systems. It also includes a built-in 802.11ac Wi-Fi access point, enabling compatibility with standard commercial devices including laptops, smartphones, IP cameras, and field sensors.

Built for harsh industrial settings, the Hawk features a rugged IP67-rated enclosure and maintains full performance in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +70°C. All connectors, including dual gigabit Ethernet M12 ports and power input, are industrial-grade, ensuring reliability in dusty, wet, or vibration-prone environments.

With comprehensive security features—including support for NSA Suite B-aligned algorithms, AES256 encryption, HMAC authentication, and WPA2 Enterprise—the Hawk ensures that every packet transmitted is protected at multiple layers. Additional features such as Automatic Protocol Tunneling (APT), VLAN, QoS, and bridge mode support make it easy to deploy and manage in complex network environments.
