The Moxa NPort 5650-8-HV-T is an 8-port RS-232/422/485 rackmount serial device server rated for 88–300 VDC and -40 to 85°C operation, designed for high-voltage substation and utility environments.
The Moxa NPort 5600 Series are 8 and 16-port RS-232/422/485 rackmount serial device servers designed for centralised management of large serial device installations. Fitting a standard 19-inch rack, these device servers allow up to 16 serial devices to be connected to an Ethernet network with only basic configuration — protecting existing hardware investments while enabling future network expansion.
Serial ports use 8-pin RJ45 connectors supporting baud rates from 50 bps to 921.6 kbps. The NPort 5610 series supports RS-232 only; the NPort 5630 series supports RS-422/485; and the NPort 5650 series supports RS-232/422/485 selectable per port. Automatic Data Direction Control (ADDC) simplifies RS-485 wiring. Pull high/low resistors (1 kΩ / 150 kΩ) and 120 Ω termination are DIP-switch selectable on NPort 5650-8/16 models.
A single 10/100BaseT(X) RJ45 Ethernet port with 1.5 kV built-in magnetic isolation connects the unit to the network. Fiber models (5650-M-SC, 5650-S-SC) provide 100BaseFX multi-mode or single-mode SC fiber connectivity. Protocol support includes ARP, BOOTP, DHCP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, ICMP, IPv4, LLDP, RFC2217, SMTP, SNMPv1/v2c, TCP/IP, Telnet, UDP, and IGMP v1/v2c filtering.
Supports HTTPS (TLS 1.2), SNMPv3, AES-128 encryption, RSA-1024, SHA-1, and SHA-256. Local database authentication is standard.
Windows Real COM drivers support Windows 11 through 95 and all major Windows Server releases including 2022. Linux Real TTY drivers cover kernel 2.4.x through 6.x. macOS Fixed TTY drivers support versions 10.1x through 14. ARM-based platforms (Windows 11, Linux kernel 4.x–6.x, macOS 11–14) and Android 3.1.x+ are supported. Compatible with VMware ESXi, VMware Fusion, and Parallels Desktop.
AC models accept 100–240 VAC (47–63 Hz). DC models accept ±48 VDC (20–72 VDC). HV models accept 88–300 VDC. Standard models operate 0–60°C; wide-temperature models extend to -40 to 75°C; HV wide-temperature models operate to -40 to 85°C. Metal housing with 19-inch rack-mount ears. Dimensions: 480 x 45.5 x 198 mm (with ears).
