The Moxa NPort 5250A is a compact, ruggedised 2-port serial device server that makes RS-232/422/485 serial devices instantly network-ready. Designed for demanding industrial environments, it combines surge protection across all serial, Ethernet, and power lines with a streamlined 3-step web-based configuration process that takes as little as 30 seconds to complete.
Port 1 and Port 2 both support RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 (2-wire and 4-wire) via DB9 male connectors. Automatic Data Direction Control (ADDC) simplifies RS-485 wiring. Pull high/low resistors (1 kΩ / 150 kΩ) and 120 Ω termination are user-selectable.
A single 10/100BaseT(X) RJ45 Ethernet port with 1.5 kV built-in magnetic isolation connects the device server to your network. Configuration is available via Windows Utility, Web Console (HTTP/HTTPS), Telnet, and Serial Console. The device supports SNMPv1/v2c management with SMTP email alerting and IGMP v1/v2 filtering.
Real COM drivers support Windows 11 through 95 and Windows Server 2022 through NT, plus Windows Embedded CE. Real TTY drivers cover Linux kernel 2.4.x through 6.x. Fixed TTY drivers support macOS 10.1x through 14, and ARM-based platforms running Windows 11, Linux kernel 4.x–6.x, or macOS 11–14 are also supported. VMware ESXi, VMware Fusion, and Parallels Desktop virtualisation environments are compatible.
Powered via dual inputs — a removable 3-contact terminal block and power jack — accepting 12 to 48 VDC at 119 mA. The NPort 5250A-T wide-temperature variant operates from -40 to 75°C, making it suitable for outdoor enclosures and thermally challenging industrial installations. Ambient humidity tolerance is 5 to 95% non-condensing.
