The Moxa MGate MB3480 is a 4-port Modbus TCP-to-RTU/ASCII gateway with Auto Device Routing, RS-232/422/485 ports, dual power input, and HTTPS/SNMPv3 security. 12–48 VDC, 0 to 55°C.
The Moxa MGate MB3180, MB3280, and MB3480 are standard DIN-rail Modbus gateways that convert between Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU/ASCII protocols. With 1, 2, or 4 RS-232/422/485 serial ports respectively, these gateways allow SCADA systems and Modbus TCP masters to communicate transparently with legacy Modbus RTU/ASCII serial devices, and vice versa — all with easy Auto Device Routing configuration.
Each serial port can be independently configured for Modbus RTU or Modbus ASCII at different baud rates, allowing mixed serial networks to be unified under a single Modbus TCP gateway. Supported Modbus functions: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 15, 16, and 23. The MB3280 handles up to 62 serial slave nodes; the MB3480 handles up to 124 serial slave nodes.
HTTPS (TLS 1.2), SNMPv3, AES-128/256, and SHA-256 encryption are supported on MB3280/MB3480 models. Local database authentication is standard across all models.
All models accept 12 to 48 VDC. The MB3180 uses a power jack; the MB3280 and MB3480 include both a power jack and terminal block for dual-source flexibility. Operating temperature is 0 to 55°C for the MB3180 and MB3480, and 0 to 60°C for the MB3280. Metal housing with IP30 rating.
