The Moxa MGate 5109 is a 1-port industrial gateway converting Modbus RTU/ASCII/TCP to DNP3 serial/TCP/UDP, with auto DNP3 outstation detection, 26,600-point capacity, 2 kV serial isolation, and dual DC power. 12–48 VDC, 0 to 60°C.
The Moxa MGate 5109 is an industrial Ethernet gateway for Modbus RTU/ASCII/TCP and DNP3 serial/TCP/UDP protocol conversion. The MGate 5109 supports transparent mode to bridge Modbus TCP to Modbus RTU/ASCII networks, or DNP3 TCP/UDP to DNP3 serial networks, and agent mode to exchange data between Modbus and DNP3 networks or act as a data concentrator for multiple Modbus slaves or DNP3 outstations. The rugged DIN-rail design with built-in serial isolation is suited to power, oil and gas, and water and wastewater applications.
Modbus RTU/ASCII supports master and slave modes with up to 100 commands (function codes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 15, 16, 23). Modbus TCP supports 16 client connections and 32 server connections. DNP3 serial master mode handles 1 connection and up to 31 outstation connections. DNP3 TCP/UDP master mode supports 1 master and 32 outstation connections. The internal master database stores 8192 binary I/O points, 2048 analog I/O points, 2048 counters, and 1024 event buffers per type.
Two 10/100BaseT(X) RJ45 ports with 1.5 kV magnetic isolation provide built-in Ethernet cascading. The RS-232/422/485 serial port supports 50 bps to 921.6 kbps via DB9 male connector with ADDC for RS-485. Configuration is via Web Console (HTTP/HTTPS), DSU, or Telnet. Security includes HTTPS (TLS 1.3), AES-128/256, SHA-256, SNMPv3, and SSH.
Powered by redundant dual 12 to 48 VDC inputs via screw-fastened Euroblock terminal, drawing 455 mA @ 12 VDC. Standard operating temperature is 0 to 60°C; the MGate 5109-T wide-temperature variant extends this to -40 to 75°C. Ambient humidity tolerance is 5 to 95% non-condensing. The metal IP30 housing is DIN-rail mountable.
