Overview
The Moxa ICF-1180I-M-ST-T is an industrial PROFIBUS-to-fibre converter that extends PROFIBUS DP communication over multi-mode optical fibre up to 4 km. The ICF-1180I provides 2 kV galvanic isolation, dual redundant power inputs with reverse polarity protection, and an alarm relay output. A PROFIBUS fail-safe function prevents noise from a failed bus segment from propagating through the fibre link and disrupting connected segments — a key advantage over standard media converters in large PROFIBUS installations.

PROFIBUS & Fibre Interface
The PROFIBUS port uses a DB9 female connector with D+, D-, RTS, Signal Common, and 5V signals, supporting 9.6 kbps to 12 Mbps with auto-detect. The multi-mode fibre interface uses ST connectors. Wavelength is 820 nm, TX power -14 dBm, RX sensitivity -28 dBm, link budget 14 dB.

Powered via terminal block with two independent 12 to 48 VDC inputs drawing 269 mA, providing power redundancy with reverse polarity protection. The ICF-1180I-M-ST-T operates across the full wide-temperature range of -40 to 75°C, suitable for outdoor enclosures and harsh industrial environments. Ambient humidity 5 to 95% non-condensing.
