Overview
The Moxa EDS-2005-EL-T is a 5-port entry-level wide-temperature unmanaged industrial Ethernet switch with five 10/100BaseT(X) copper ports. It is designed for applications requiring simple, robust industrial Ethernet connectivity without the cost or complexity of a managed switch. The metal housing with IP40 ingress rating, store-and-forward switching, 2K MAC table, 768-kbit packet buffer, and PROFINET Conformance Class A compliance make it well suited to PROFINET-based automation networks. The wide-temperature -40 to 75 deg C rating suits outdoor enclosures, unconditioned cabinets, and harsh industrial environments.
Key Features
- 5 x 10/100BaseT(X) RJ45 ports with auto MDI/MDI-X and auto-negotiation
- Full/half duplex mode, IEEE 802.3/802.3u/802.3x/802.1p compliant
- Store-and-forward switching with 2K MAC address table and 768-kbit packet buffer
- DIP-switchable Quality of Service (QoS) on the outer panel – one toggle, no configuration
- DIP-switchable Broadcast Storm Protection (BSP) to defend against broadcast floods
- PROFINET Conformance Class A (CC-A) compliant for factory-automation networks
- Metal housing with IP40 ingress protection
- Single 12/24/48 VDC power input (9.6 to 60 VDC operating range), removable 2-contact terminal block
- Overload current protection and reverse polarity protection on the power input
- Operating temperature: -40 to 75 deg C (-40 to 167 deg F)
- Telcordia Bellcore / GB MTBF: 5,249,061 hrs
- Safety listed to UL 61010-2-201 and EN 62368-1
- 100% burn-in tested on every unit before shipment
- Compact size (18 x 81 x 65 mm); DIN-rail mount and optional WK-18 wall-mount kit
- 5-year manufacturer warranty
Applications
- PROFINET machine-cell aggregation where a small unmanaged fanout is sufficient
- Remote I/O, sensor, and drive connectivity in small process islands
- Building automation and HVAC network edge points
- Industrial vision system fanout (camera + light + controller) at the edge
- Panel-builder default switch for small OEM machines
- Temporary test benches and commissioning labs
- Cost-sensitive replacement of consumer-grade switches in light-industrial deployments
DIP Switch Configuration
Two DIP switches on the outer panel control QoS and Broadcast Storm Protection. Enabling QoS prioritises traffic tagged per IEEE 802.1p; enabling BSP rate-limits broadcast frames to prevent a runaway device from saturating the network. Note: enabling QoS also enables multicast filtering which blocks LLDP and PROFINET PTCP-Delay traffic – in PROFINET deployments relying on those protocols, leave QoS disabled. Hardware version 2.0.0 or later is required for these DIP-switch features.
